Day 2 Hot Air Balloon Tour & Eastern Cappadocia , Underground City

Great day for a Cappadocia hot air balloon experience in the early morning!

Uchisar Castle Panorama

It is the highest fairy chimney in the region and offers a unique view. It is about 250 meters high. Being located at a strategic point has caused it to be used for protection and defense by most civilizations living in the region. This natural castle, which was formed as a result of the volcanic eruption, has survived to the present day by adding different sections in different periods. Although some parts of it have been destroyed, it contains many tunnels, warehouses, cellars, churches, hermitage rooms, and parts such as pigeon houses. It actually consists of two parts. The small castle is called the sergeant's castle, and the larger one is called the agha's castle.

Pasabaglari

It has become one of the most popular travel spots with the most intense view of rock formations called fairy chimneys and the scenery it offers. The hermitage rooms carved into these fairy chimneys are important examples reflecting the lifestyle of the monks. There is also a chapel dedicated to St. Simon. Saint Simon lived for 37 years in a small hermitage built on a high column and became famous for his miracles. After his death, his followers who believed in his teachings formed a new trend and this group was named Stylites (saints living on pillars). Some monks who came to the Cappadocia region lived a life similar to the mystical lifestyle of St. Simon, who lived in small cells they built on high fairy chimneys.

Avanos & Jug Workshops

Avanos is an ancient city established on the banks of the Kızılırmak. The Kızılırmak is the longest river that starts and ends in Turkey. The Kızılırmak divides the district in two from east to west. This city, divided by the Kızılırmak River, is connected to each other by 4 bridges. The oldest of these is the stone bridge. The reason why this river is called Kızılırmak is that a red clay layer was formed by the mixing of the minerals brought by the river from far away and the rich minerals in the Cappadocia region, and this added a reddish color to the river. It has lost this feature due to the dams built today. The city of Avanos has hosted a history of four thousand years, bearing the traces of Hittite, Phrygian, Persian, Assyrian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman. The art of jug making in this city is a legacy left by the Hittites and has been produced since 2000 BC. The Hittites were experts in pottery making. They built a pipeline to carry spring water to cities and meet their water needs. The water pipes used were also used to transfer polluted water and rain water.

Mustafapasa & Lunch

It is one of the most well-kept and well-preserved residential areas of the Cappadocia region. This town was known as Sinasos in ancient times. The word Sinasos is Greek and means city of the sun. The wealthiest families of the period lived in this town, the majority of which was Greek. For this reason, the houses are adorned with rich stonework and frescoes, as well as monasteries, a large bath and churches that have not lost their importance even today. However, in the population exchange made in accordance with the Lausanne Peace Treaty, forced migration was carried out, which included the resettlement of Christians living in these lands to Greece, and the resettlement of Muslims living in Greek lands to Turkey. In this town, which has a population of immigrants today, the previous cultural values and works are carefully preserved, so the traces of the recent history, the living spaces before the exchange, are presented to our eyes as a living, natural open-air museum.

Keslik Monastery

It is located 2 kilometers from the village of Cemil. The real name of this monastery is Arkangelos monastery. However, the fact that monks lived here in general caused the monastery to be called a monks' monastery and changed over time to be known as the Monkhood Monastery. This monastery is a large complex that became the episcopacy center in the 13th century. The monastery consists of many parts such as refectories, monk cells, church, winery, and chapel. There is also a water source at the entrance, which used to be a holy spring and is now used as a fountain.

Kaymakli Underground City
Although the exact date of construction is not known, it is dated to the Hittites period, that is, to 2000 BC. In the following periods, the first Christians who escaped from the Roman invasion headed to the Cappadocia region, built other parts of the underground cities and used them for shelter. It contains a kitchen, wine cellar, rooms, churches, many tunnels and air shafts. In addition, underground cities are of great importance in their struggle to carry their culture and religious views to the future. This underground city, which you will discover in astonishment, will take you to those ancient times with its texture.
Day 3 Nature & Hidden Cappadocia

Goreme Panorama

One of the most popular settlements in Cappadocia, the town of Göreme surrounded by fairy chimneys and its most popular valleys, you can enjoy Turkish coffee from the panorama point where the trees are decorated with evil eye beads.

Onyx Workshop

Since the Cappadocia region is not very suitable for agriculture, people have always dealt with more than one job. They made the test, woven carpets and mastered the processing of precious stones. There are many places where precious stones are exhibited in the Cappadocia region. The most prominent among the precious stones are onyx and sultanite. Onyx stone has almost the same appearance as marble in terms of appearance. But onyx stones are transparent and have layers of different colors. The dominant color found in the stone is black. However, onyx stone has many colors ranging from white to black. Black onyx is generally used in making accessories, jewelry and jewellery. Its benefits are quite remarkable. First of all, it gives positive energy and reduces depression, is very effective against stress, has a self-confidence-increasing feature, and strengthens the relationships of people by providing a balance in male-female relations. In addition, this stone has a pain-reducing effect. Sultanite, Sultan stone, took its name from the Ottoman sultans. This stone, which is unique only to the geography of Turkey, is mined in Muğla Milas. The most striking feature is that it takes on different colors under different light sources. It comes in colors such as pink, green, yellow, blue and brown. It has become a registered trademark with the name sultanit. As a benefit, it allows the Mind to become clearer and clearer. Psychologically, it has a structure that relaxes and calms people. It removes negative energy.

Ihlara Valley & Lunch

It is our region with a perfect view with its deep valleys, streams, lush vegetation and magnificent mountains. Ihlara valley is the best example of this. Its depth varies from 100 to 120 meters. There are countless shelters, tombs, churches, and hermitage rooms carved into the rocks along the valley. The church decorations in this valley start from the 6th century and go back to the 13th century. In addition, unlike the continental climate in the region, the Mediterranean climate is seen here. With this feature, it is a natural microclimate area. Accordingly, various plants, especially pistachios, are grown.

Pomegranate Lake

It is located in the city of Niğde and is the only crater lake in the Cappadocia region. Pomegranate lake collapsed in the early Quaternary, that is, 2.5 million years ago, as a result of volcanic eruptions in the region, and took the appearance of today's maar. The lake is surrounded by hills. Many thermal facilities have been established around the Nar Lake, which is very rich in calcium, sodium and bicarbonate. Juvenile (never surfaced before, not mixed with any water since its formation) waters, which are generally seen in volcanic areas, emerge from magma pockets along fault lines. For example, water is extracted from the borehole on the shore of the lake at a temperature of 65 degrees. Juvenile waters from these Magma pockets contain more dissolved mineral matter.

Guzelyurt

It is one of the most beautiful settlements where you can watch the historical continuity in the Cappadocia region. In ancient times, it was called karballa, with the influence of Greek, as karvali with the influence of Turkish, and today it was changed as Güzelyurt. His name is Hz. It is likely that he got it from Golgotha or calvari, where Jesus was crucified. Until the population exchange period of 1924, both Christians and Muslim Turkish people lived here in peace. It is possible to see beautiful examples of the stone houses they built on the rock floor of Güzelyurt Houses, both for their durability and architectural features, and for their preservation to the present day, in every street of the town. The most general feature of the houses is that they are adjacent to each other and their roofs are arched, and the construction date of the house, which is still located at the door of most of the houses, gives information about the arch processes on the walls, the culture and the historical process.
